Virgin Voyeur Travel – Spa Breaks

Despite the Lake House’s beseeching request on its menu  - “Please no thongs” – this 2.4 hectare wellbeing institution in Australia’s burgeoning “Spa Country” is all about relaxing (though you might have to pack a pair of shoes to dine at Alla Wolf-Tasker’s savvy Two-Hatted restaurant, headed by Head Chef David Green). The Salus Spa is an ode to Scandinavian style. The blonde wood and tiffany-blue interior reflects its verdant location and water-fall fed streams. The décor lightens and brightens the space designed with nothing but pampering in mind. First stop to wash away city stress must be a soak in the Salus treetop spa. The deep tub is filled with mineral water sourced from a nearby spring. From here, enjoy a stunning view of Lake Daylesford through the treetops. Funnily enough hydrotherapy is the name of the game at Lake House, but the prune fingered can opt for any number of holistic escapes from deep tissue massage to Salus’s signature Bliss treatments. In line with the restaurant the facials feature local ingredients that reflect the seasons, with rosemary, pine and eucalyptus in the winter, and magnolia, citrus and lilac in the spring.

For the ultimate luxury, book a weekend at The Retreat. Set away from the 33 rooms of the main hotel, this secluded country house has direct access to the lake foreshore. Couples who really like their solitude can wallow in the two sumptuous bedrooms, each with walk in dressing rooms, before reconvening on the sunny deck, in the private courtyard or in the heated sunken hot tub.
