Regional Wine List of the Year - The Age Good Food Guide

What's New? Sommelier Tom Hogan passed the prestigious Court of Master Sommelier exam in London last November. He has now been invited to participate in the final Master Sommelier Exam in June 2013.

"enthusiastic head sommelier Tom Hogan... pays tribute to the local without being parochial, so Bindi and Tomboy Hill sit proudly alongside white & red burgundy, as Granite Hills and Best's Great Western rieslings do beside New Zealand, German, Austrian and French examples. The Italian and Spanish ranges pleases too. All are served up by a young, knowledgable team intent on keeping siners happy."
The Age Good Food Guide

The Lake House wine philosophy is driven by the belief in the intrinsic relationship between wine and food; a relationship that is complementary and inspiring to one another.

The wine list is motivated by the notion of terroir and regionality – the idea that a wine can reflect, not only the grape variety and winemaker, but the soil and site from which it’s grown and nurtured. In the same manner a dish may transport you to a specific place, a wine with terroir can carry you to a far away vineyard.

Lake House enjoys an enviable location within the Macedon Ranges, surrounded by world recognised regions, such as Heathcote, Bendigo, the Pyrenees and the Grampians. Our immediate neighbours are thus generously represented within our wine list. However, it would be remiss of us to ignore the great regions of the world, particularly the ‘Old World’, that have served as inspiration for many of the great producers of this country. Subsequently, the wine list seeks representation from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, New Zealand and the United States.

Blessed with a climate controlled cellar, Lake House endeavors to serve all our wines in the best possible state.Whether you are a wine aficionado or novice, we encourage you to engage the skills of the wine team – it is our role to maximise your food and wine experience. The Lake House wine list offers over 800 labels from the surrounding wine regions and benchmark vineyards from around the world.
